Everything starts as a thought. With so much negativity in our everyday lives it can be tough to keep a positive attitude throughout. They say we have between 60,000 and 80,000 thoughts a day so it is vital that we control what we think. If we are not careful our thoughts can make for a tough day. I’ve been through a lot this past year and now with this Start right corona virus pandemic, I had to did deep and figure out how to clear my mind and begin to focus on some blessings in life and not all the negativity. We are in control of our thoughts so it is our responsibility to think more positive. Buy how can we take this control? It definitely is possible but takes practice and consistency. Many people sleep right next to their phones as I am one as well. Instead of checking your social media or e-mails first thing, I suggest using our phones for a more positive start to our day. Why not listen to a positive or motivational video first thing. This will get your juices flowing and I know for a fact that how your start your day usually determines the way your day is going to go. Putting positive information in your mind as soon as your awake sets the tone for your day. So wake up early put a big smile on your face as that releases dopamine and endorphins. These are neurotransmitters that naturally put your in a good mood. Now add some extra positivity to that and your are off to an amazing start. I usually grab my headphones and put on a YouTube video that really puts me in a great state. Some of my go tos are Be Inspired and Daily Motivation. So next time your ask how to clear my mind, starting your day with a big smile and some inspiring videos is a surefire to rid your mind of negative thoughts
off the bat and sets your up for a successful day.
Stay prayed up
Now I cannot emphasize enough the importance and overall power of prayer and just talking to God daily and throughout the day. There are always going to be tests during your day and talking to God sure puts the mind in the right place to handle them. Talking to God throughout my day limits your negative thoughts and also makes your decision-making 100 times better. So tell God all your concerns whether its fears, worries, weaknesses or anything on your mind. He loves to hear from us! Pray for other as well as yourself. Ask for guidance and then listen to him, really listen to him. They say prayer is us talking to God and our intuition is God talking to us, so trust that intuition. Your thoughts and days will be a million times better when your put God first. Some days I memorize a scripture and repeated in my head all day. ” I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” and “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding and in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your crooked paths straight” are very powerful ones I use for strength and courage. The Serenity Prayer is also very powerful as well. So put God first in all your do and stay prayed up. Count your blessings and be the blessing. And overload your mind with biblical truths as well.
Affirmations are a powerful tool when used with consistency. Repetition is the mother of skill and repeating positive affirmations over and over again will eventually become your new way of seeing yourself. It is hard to be negative when your are in a good place with yourself. I frequently do self-love affirmations and I AM affirmations. The mind can not tell the difference between what is actual or not. So calling something before it is as though it was will overtime become your reality. Doing this feels weird at first but after a while it becomes second nature and once your start reaping the benefits your will not stop.
Journaling is a good tool to declutter your mind. Just grab a pen and write any thoughts, ideas or anything that pops in your head. There is something to be said writing out your thoughts as some negative ones lose their power over your. When me and my sons mom split, it was extremely rough and I went through a decent amount of time with negative and depreciating thoughts. A friend of mine told how when he went through a similar situation his pastor suggested journaling. He told of his experience and how it helped so I gave it a try. It definitely was medication for my mind. Now to be honest I don’t still do journaling every day but it sure helped. Now my blogging is my journaling lol.
Meditate on it
Meditation is a wonderful tool that reduces stress, controls your anxiety and overall calms the mind. It also can enhance self awareness and even aid in conquering addictions. Meditation is considered a practice and that is what your need to do to be successful, is practice. I suggest starting small with a 5-minute meditation and work your way up a minute or two at a time. You definitely need a quiet space where your are not distracted. Start taking deep breaths and focusing on those breaths. Do not judge what thoughts come into your mind. Just let them be and go back to your breath. In time this will get easier and once your experience the benefits of this practice, your will for sure look forward to doing it. Always remember that this is your time! There is nothing else your need to be doing and nowhere else your need to be. You soon realize how your can better control your thoughts and your mood in general. So make this a daily habit. I sometimes do multiple sessions as I feel I benefit most that way. I always do the morning and night but sometime sneak practice in during the day.
Work it out
There are many advantages to getting some exercise or a good work out. Not only does it naturally and effectively reduce anxiety but is an awesome stress reliever. Its releases endorphins which in turn boosts mental and physical health. Consistently exercising and eating healthy foods will dramatically improve your health and appearance. And like I always tell my young son ” If your look good, your feel good, so your’ll do good”. It’s very hard to hold negativity when your are taking care of yourself. It is a great way to show self-love to yourself.
There are so many ways to improve your mental state. I just named my go to ones. If your do all or just some of these on a consistent basis, it will for ensure an improvement in your mental health as well as your physical health. We all go through a lot in a day and being able to handle those tough points is very important. I believe we are all capable of controlling our thoughts which in return will give us control of our lives. We all have amazing in us and I will stop at nothing to tap into that awesomeness!
